Tesla unveils Model S sedan

Silicon Valley electric car start-up Tesla Motors has unveiled it's all-electric Model S. Expected to be delivered in 2011, the sedan will have a 300-mile range, will achieve a 0-60 of 5.6 seconds, and will "quick charge" in 45 minutes. Starting price: $57,400.

A beautiful sedan, though less butter than the rival Fisker Automotive Karma. Still, it's an around-town kind of car, and I continue to think that the hybrid gas-electric vehicle might make the better investment in the near future.

So does the 300 mile range mean that when I'm driving to New England that I have to stop at at a rest stop on the Jersey Turnpike for 45 whole minutes to charge up for the rest of my journey? If so, not very appealing neither is the 54,000 price tag.
