Who killed the Wyden-Snowe Amendment? - UPDATED

Senator's Wyden and Snowe introduced an amendment to the stimulus package that would have capped bonuses for anyone who worked at a bailed out company to $100,000. The amendment passed the Senate unanimously, was included in that chambers version of the stimulus bill, but was ultimately taken out when the legislation went to conference.

Senator Dodd has said that bailout cap was modified at the insistence of some unnamed someones within Obama's administration.

Who??? Care to posit a guess, dear reader? Let the comments fly!

UPDATE:

The Treasury Department official says the fault appears to lie with career staffers at the department who failed to report the imminent bonus deadline up the chain to Geithner. -- Time
