About that "sovereignity"

Palin. Jindal. Pawlenty. And now, Perry. Why are Republican governors insane? Is bat-shit craziness a prerequisite for the job?

In case you missed it, Perry signed legislation in Texas declaring the state 'sovereign' and demanding

[t]hat all compulsory federal legislation that directs states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties or sanctions or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding be prohibited or repealed.
Then, the Texas Governor showed up at one of those Tea Parties yesterday and declared
We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot.
Odd. If memory serves, we've already been down that "secession" road once before. Fought a war over it, in fact. Texas lost.

Further, the Supreme Court ("The Constitution means what we say it means.") has ruled on the question of the dissolvability of the union. In a case cited, ironically, as Texas v. White. Whatever the "uniqueness" of whichever "lot," there's absolutely no option to dissolve the union -- outside of being asked to leave. Which option the rest of us might want to consider.
