Steve Levitt, U-Chicago economist, NYTimes blogger, and "Freakonomics" co-author, will be joining Geithner's team. While some argue that Levitt deploys economics in the analysis of the trivial, he is a much noted thinker on the intersection between economics and crime, and using the former to ferret out the latter.
Also joining the administration, Greg Mankiw, who's previous Washington job was heading W.'s Council of Economic Advisors. He'll be co-directing the National Economic Council... which previously had only one chair: Larry Summers.
This is all via Cheeptalk, and I suspect it might very well be an elaborate pwning related to today's date.
